Kellie Pickler & Kyle Jacobs Have a Surprise Wedding
Kellie Pickler is a newlywed!
After a proposal on the beach last June, the “elated” country singer, 24, and Kyle Jacobs, 37, eloped, exchanging vows on Jan. 1, in a “small, intimate ceremony on a private island in the Caribbean,” her rep tells PEOPLE.
The couple, who have been dating since , got engaged on June 15, , when Jacobs popped the question on a Florida beach.
“It was the most spiritual moment.” Pickler, who got her start on American Idol, said of the proposal. “We would’ve gotten married that night had there been a preacher walking by!”
And it looks like married life is agreeing with her. On Tuesday, Pickler Tweeted, “Private Island. Caribbean. Cigar in one hand, Rum in the other. Someone just called me “Mrs. Jacobs.”….sounds nice :)”

Kyle Jacobs, songwriter and husband of country singer Kellie Pickler, dead at 49
Kyle Jacobs, a songwriter and the husband of country singer Kellie Pickler, died at age 49 Friday, police said. His death is being investigated as a suicide, police said.
Police responded to the couple’s home after receiving a call from Pickler’s assistant at around p.m.
Jacobs was found by law enforcement and fire department personnel with "an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound" in an upstairs room in the Nashville home he shared with Pickler, the Metro Nashville Police Department said in a statement.
Pickler reported to police that she woke up that day a short time earlier and could not find Jacobs. She began looking for him, and when she and a personal assistant weren't able to open the door of an upstairs room, her assistant called

Pickler, who grew up in North Carolina, rose to fame as a contestant on American Idol's fifth season, where she finished sixth place.
