Giulio de 'Medici, who later became Pope Clement VII, was born in Florence on May 26, He is the son of Giuliano de' Medici, brother of Lorenzo the Magnificent and victim of the Pazzi conspiracy in which he died stabbed while his brother managed to escape attack and to take revenge by exterminating a large part of the Pazzi family.
Giulio is a natural son of Giuliano who recognizes him before his death, letting him enter in all respects into the great Medici family. Lorenzo decides to entrust the child to Antonio Sangallo and then to take him permanently with him. At the age of seven he started his ecclesiastical studies, working with Ferdinando I d'Aragona to grant Giulio the Priua priory of the Order of San Giovanni.

Pope Clement VII was born Giulio de' Medici in Florence on May 26, His father, Giuliano de' Medici, was a grandson of Cosimo de' Medici, and his mother was Giuliano's mistress. Two months before his birth, Giuliano was murdered in a plot known as the Pazzi Conspiracy.
Youth

Early Life
Clement VII started life as Giulio, a member of the Medici family in Italy. Just before his birth, his father visited the Florence Cathedral and was murdered. No records indicate his mother, but he spent much of his early life under the care of an architect who was also his godfather.
Lorenzo the Magnificent took him in and treated him as his natural son. As he was an illegitimate child, the Church banned him from certain positions. Lorenzo helped him enlist in the military and then attend college. When he passed away, Giulio took over the mans role as a cardinal.
