On November 2, , John Bohlinger was elected as Montana's Lt. Governor. Brian Schweitzer became the 23rd Governor of the great state of Montana on January 3,
John was born in Bozeman on April 21, , to parents John and Aileen Bohlinger. In , John, his sister Tina, and their parents moved from Bozeman to Billings. His parents opened a women's apparel store called Aileen's, which would become a beloved fixture of downtown Billings.
John attended Billings Senior High School, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve during his senior year. After graduation, he attended the University of Montana, but was called to active duty in the Marines between his sophomore and junior year. John completed his service in the Marines with an honorable discharge, returned to the University of Montana, and earned a degree in business.
John returned to Billings and went to work in his family business. He married Bette Cobetto, and together they raised a family of six children.
During his year career as a small businessman, John also worked for many community organizations in the Billings area. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Billing
At his hotel bar in midtown Manhattan, Schweitzer and Nancy ordered drinks. They were used to talking to reporters — though usually in Montana.
"They just ride in the back of my pickup while I do my work," he said. "Sawin' wood, buildin' fence. The last guy that came, he was a photographer for something called the National Journal. I'm pretty sure no one reads that."
Schweitzer was convinced this setting wouldn't be as promising. "So, I'll give you something worthwhile here," he said, then paused.
"You've got the recorder on?"
Schweitzer wouldn't want you to miss anything.
He will tell you that his strengths lie in this area — communication, retail politics, back-slapping, hand-shaking, and a method he calls speaking "visually."
After one year as governor, Schweitzer talked openly about his "god-given" political talents. "You know, if John Kerry could do what I do, he'd be president," he said in a interview. "Be likable, be self-deprecating."
In the bar, he talked proudly about a segment he taped on Reverend Al Sharpton's show after news broke about racist comments made by Cliven Bundy, a Nevada rancher who had become a rallying cause for some politicians in the Republ

Schweitzer was born in Havre, Montana. He earned his bachelor's degree in international agronomy from Colorado State University in and his master's degree in soil science from Montana State University in In , Schweitzer started a ranching and irrigation business.[1][2]
President Bill Clinton (D) appointed Schweitzer to the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a member of the Montana USDA Farm Service Agency Committee.[2]

After incumbent Governor Judy Martz announced she would not run for re-election in , Schweitzer announced that he would run for governor with John Bohlinger.[3]
