Kaylee Rutland performed on this year's Dallas Music Festival. She is an 18 year old singer/songwriter working in the contemporary country genre. Music has been an enormous part of her life since she was a child and being musical performer has always been something she's wanted to do. Kaylee focuses all of her songs around material that is close to her heart, such as her faith, her family, as well as her friends, and she states that most of her influence is from other country singers like Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, and Sarah Evans.
"If I hear someone say something that I think would work great in a song, I'll take that knowledge with me and work with it to write my lyrics," she says. When Kaylee is writing songs, she says she is hard on herself because she wants the lyrics and music to sound as good as they can. Once Kaylee has the basic lyrics down for a song, she takes what she wrote and her and her band meet up, jam through it, and bounce ideas off of each other.

Kaylee Rutland may be new on the country front but she’s far from being a newbie when it comes to artistry. In fact, Rutland is wise beyond her years, which proves evident throughout her music. But it’s not only her music that helps the country newcomer get by. It’s her faith that she holds close to her heart. Her faith and belief in powerful artistry are what allows Rutland to have an unmistakeable connection with her listeners.
Success isn’t anything new for the “Pick Me Up” singer. She’s landed on the Billboard “Artists to Watch” list and scored a spot on Country Living Magazine’s “Artist To Watch”. The country superstar even earned a spot on tour with The Voice winner and contestant RaeLynn. Rutland also finished in the top 10 of the inaugural Nash Next competition thanks to her large following.
Needless to say, Rutland is well on her way to embarking on a successful career path. Her sweet charisma and powerhouse country talent have already come a long way since her start in Flower Mount, Texas and there is no sign of her slowing down anytime soon.

During this year's Country Radio Seminar (CRS), we were lucky to meet and talk with so many artists, including emerging artists. This next interview was with Kaylee Rutland.
Her new EP is titled That Side Of Me, which is a collaboration of songs that she has written. Watch our interview as she discusses what it means to her to have this EP finally released and how some of the differences in acoustic versus full production can affect not only the listener but the artist as well.
