Nthati Moshesh is a multi-award winning South African actress with a career spanning over 30 years across film, television, and theatre. Born and raised in Katlehong (Ekurhuleni), she developed a passion for drama from an early age. She studied Drama as a matric subject at St. Andrew’s School for Girls in Bedfordview before furthering her studies at Natal Technikon (now Durban University of Technology), where she graduated with a National Diploma in Performing Arts in
Her early film career was marked by her first feature film role in Kini and Adams, which was nominated for a Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. She later starred in The Long Run, produced by Anant Singh, and played prominent roles in Kin alongside Miranda Otto and Isaiah Washington, Beat The Drum, Round Trip, and Cape of Good Hope. More recently, she has appeared in A Safari Romance, The Fragile King, and Ayanda (and the Mechanic), earning a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the African Movie Academy Awards and the SAFTAs.

What inspired you or your parents to get you on TV? Take us through your journey.
We never really had a plan. But I was always competing in school competitions that had elements of performance. One of my teachers saw something in me, and decided to suggest that my parents look into getting me into the entertainment industry. My dad had a friend who worked at the SABC, and he then helped by giving my parents a few numbers for kids’ agencies. Once I got an agent, I started going to auditions; and as they say, the rest is history. To be honest, I don’t think any of us actually thought I would end up being on one of South Africa’s leading soapies.
What’s your earliest memory of Generations?

She is part of the Whatever it Takes cast, a movie that has just been released. The female empowering film is a perfect binge for Women&#;s Month and it features some of the great female personalities in the country.
